About the Global Interfaith Weekend
Child marriage happens in every part of the world, across different cultures and religions. Leaders of all faiths are extremely influential in their communities.
The Global Interfaith Weekend to End Child Marriage will bring together faith leaders worldwide to unite their communities against child marriage. The weekend aims to engage members of faith communities and support them to learn more about child marriage and its repercussions for children.
The weekend will take place 12-14 September 2025.

How do faith leaders take part in the Global Interfaith Weekend to End Child Marriage?

During the weekend, faith leaders are asked to take part by focusing their weekly prayer meeting on protecting children, preserving the solemnity of marriage, and raising awareness of the harms caused by child marriage.

If preferred, faith leaders can hold a dedicated community meeting or event during the weekend.

Faith leaders can also sign the global interfaith pledge to end child marriage.

What is Child Marriage Free World?

Child Marriage Free World is a global campaign which aims to end child marriage, community by community. It works in partnership with schools and colleges, and grassroots, community, youth-led, faith-based, and non-governmental organisations. The campaign also works in partnership with governments to tackle the root causes of child marriage.

Child Marriage Free World held a successful Global Pledging Week to End Child Marriage in 2024 across 30 countries, involving national and local government leaders, schools, and community leaders. The Global Interfaith Weekend in September 2025 is intended to be a special moment for faith communities to show their leadership in global efforts to end child marriage.
