Binta Zara Suleiman, a community member from Farawa in Kano, Nigeria, marked the inaugural Global Interfaith Weekend to End Child Marriage by taking action in her own way.

On 11 September, Binta hosted an interactive discussion with 30 participants, focusing on the impact of child marriage and why ending it is critical for protecting children’s rights. Without access to formal event resources, she designed and shared digital fliers across her social media platforms to reach a wider audience and spark conversations online.
Her initiative shows how individuals can harness personal networks and virtual spaces to raise awareness and inspire change. By combining in-person dialogue with online outreach, Binta amplified the message of prevention and advocacy within her community and beyond.
Her participation strengthened the Global Interfaith Weekend’s mission to unite faith communities across the world to speak out against child marriage and protect children’s futures.
